Fortunately,they do not mind if you make a profitin the process. SPACER is a game aboutmaking money.%} There are two main waysto do that: trade and mining. Thereare three minerals to mine. Fuelore isworth one credit per u&}nit. Constructite is worth five per unit,and Blastium is worth ten. Mining onlymakes money until the mines run dry. Trade'} is riskier, but can make the mostmoney in the long run. Trade goodshave two characteristics: type andcolor. Goods of the(} same type butdifferent color are not the same. Agiven culture will always supply anddemand the same items, but the quant)}ityand price will be different each timeyou visit them. Find a demand for whatanother culture supplies and rememberto bu*}y low and sell high. Your starship is a state of the artdevice known as an APEMAN--All PurposeExploration, Mining, And +}Navigationvehicle. It not only travels throughhyperspace, but also converts to anall-terrain vehicle on a planetarysurfa,}ce. It is capable of mining andrefining the three ore types. Fueloreis used to power the ship. The fueltank can hold 50-}0 units. Up to 100units of Constructite can be stored inplate form on the hull to serve asarmor. Up to 100 units of Blast.}ium canbe stored, and is used to power theship's weapons. In addition, your APEMAN has a cargohold which can store 100/} items. Onehundred "gifts" can also bestored--trinkets used to impress thenatives. The Main Menu represents a compute0}rterminal in your APEMAN. Use joystickor keyboard to make your selection. Note that SPACER saves your game as yougo, but1} it is a good idea to always enda playing session at the Main Menu. STATUS displays your currentsituation, and the conte2}nts of yourcargo hold. Your APEMAN may RETURN TO BASE byfollowing a homing beacon. Whilethere, you may use joystick 3}or keyboardto buy and sell resources. The range indicator bargives you an idea how:} much farther itis to your destination. At the end ofeach jump, there is a chance you willbe attacked by a Pirate or an A;}nnoianRaider. No one knows where the Annoianscome from, or what there motives are. One theory has it that their culturewi<}ll not allow them to to choose a mateuntil they prove their manhood (orwhatever) by blasting a few holes in astarship. The=}y are fast and hard tohit, but they will break off after theyhit you about three times. The Piratesare easier to hit, but>} take more thanone hit to kill. If they blow all yourarmor off, they will board and stealyou blind. The button fires?} your blasters. Yourradar is a threat display with yourship represented by the center of thescreen.
